Östra Nylands archipelago-summer market

Pellinge Sandholmsudden

In the charming villages of the Finnish archipelago the proportion of the Finnish Swedes is remarkable. Their culture is well seen in the way of building houses and taking care of the surroundings. The villages are tightly built on the sides of the bays where you most often find also the best sheltered harbours for the boats. The traditional earnings of the archipelago, like handicraft, farming, keeping of cattle, fishing and shipping are still alive beside the tourism.

In the archipelago of Itä-Uusimaa you can find several summer marketplaces, where you can buy local products like fresh fish, vegetables and bread, flowers or handicraft. The marketplaces are easy to visit either by car or boat and they are most likely to be open on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
